Pacific Coast Air Museum
Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, CA

This page will soon feature all of my content about the Pacific Coast Air Museum and its "Wings Over Wine Country" airshows. I have been visiting the museum at least once a year since their 2002 airshow, and written reviews of their 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 airshows. I also shot videos of the 2005 and 2006 airshows, and written an article about the museum's extensive collection of fighter jets. All this, coming soon.

Until then, here are my best 12 pictures from each year's airshow (2002-2006), and another 12 pictures from the museum's aircraft collection.

Pacific Coast Air Museum collection

Photographs and information about the airplanes in the museum's permanent collection. You can visit them year-round and even sit in the cockpits! The museum has an impressive collection of fighter jets including an F-16, a Harrier jump-jet, and one of the F-14s actually used in the filming of "Top Gun". Also very cool is the museum's huge lineup of Vietnam-era tactical jets, like an F-4 Phantom, an A-6 Intruder, an A-4, an F-5E, an F-106, an F-105, an F-8, a T-38, a T-37... and some Korean-War-era jets like an F-84, two F-86s, a T-33... You will rarely see that many military jets in one place.

Wings Over Wine Country 2006

A great airshow, as usual. Featured the US Navy F/A-18 demo and the USAF C-17 and A-10 demos, as well as U-2 and T-38 and C-5 fly-bys, one of the very last USAF T-6A Texan II demos, Kent Pietsch's aerial comedy routine and his dead-stick aerobatic glider routine, Eddie Andreini's amazing aerobatic demo in his Stearman (including wingwalking and a ribbon-cut), plenty of aerobatics (Bill Stein in an Edge, Craig Teft in a Pitts), tons of warbirds (T-6s, P-51s, a B-25, a radial-engine Yak-3 Reno racer, etc), a police helicopter simulated rescue, a CDF firefighting slurry drop, and remote-control aircraft.

Wings Over Wine Country 2005

Wings Over Wine Country 2004

(Note: Most of the pictures above are extremely grainy because I was using a new camera and inadvertently left it at ISO 400 during most of the weekend; To this day I still kick myself for this mistake, and check the ISO setting every time I turn on a camera!)
